JOHN BELL

Spanning the past quarter century, John Bell’s art has contributed to many of the most noteworthy films of our time. With a love of design in all things, Bell has established a reputation as a leading designer in film, video games, advertising and product design. His boundless imagination continues to fuel his creative expression — both professionally and personally. Moreover, his portfolio is as diverse as his experience and background.

With a love of car design, Bell received a bachelor’s degree in transportation design from Art Center in Pasadena. After college, he worked as a designer at General Motors Advanced Concept Studio in Detroit before moving to California to become a conceptual artist at Atari Games. He later joined George Lucas’ Industrial Light and Magic, where he worked on and off for the next 20 years as an illustrator and art director.

Bell then pursued new challenges at Nike as a senior designer, working on everything from footwear and clothing to graphics and new brand concepts, before moving into video game design at Electronic Arts as a senior concept designer. He also provided freelance design work on a number of animated films, returned to Industrial Light and Magic in the capacity of a concept artist and served several advertising and product design clients.

Throughout his career, Bell’s personal art has been sold in numerous galleries throughout the country, featured on ESPN Sports, the cover of Juxtapose magazine and in several other publications. With a wealth of artistic ability, creativity and willingness to venture into new frontiers, Bell’s artwork represents natural forms with colorful style and midcentury modern influence.
