Alishan Jewelry
Alishan Halebian approaches jewelry the way a sculptor approaches form - as a three-dimensional problem to be solved in precious metal. The California-based, Armenian-born designer is a self-taught goldsmith who began his career in 1970, drawing inspiration from sources as far-ranging as Eastern European architecture, West African masks, classical antiquity, and the natural world. His signature technique layers different colored metals within a single piece, producing work that reads as architecturally bold and, somehow, weightless at once. Each piece is handcrafted in his Tustin studio and finished to museum-exhibition standards; Halebian’s work has been shown in institutions across the U.S. and abroad, and has earned recognition from the American Gem Trade Association, Platinum Guild International, and the International Pearl Competition.
