Martin Blundell is a Utah-based painter recognized for his talent since childhood, when an elementary school teacher singled out one of his landscape watercolors. He went on to the honors art program at the University of Utah, graduating with a BFA in printmaking and drawing, and has spent the decades since moving between design work and fine art. His recent landscape oil paintings are built through impasto brushwork and palette-knife application, with color found and refined through layers of overpainting - Blundell has said his paintings develop their own identity as the process on canvas unfolds. His work has earned recognition from the Utah Watercolor Society, the Utah Arts Council, and the Springville Museum of Art, and he was named a Notable Utah Artist by the University of Utah’s Marriott Library
